Revolutionizing Mutton!

OUR STORY

Passionate | Socially Responsible

Back in 1978, a newly married couple, erstwhile classmates during graduation at the famous Sir J J College of Architecture in Mumbai, decided to leave their well-established architecture firm in Mumbai to get back to their roots in the quaint town of Ahmednagar. Mr Ashok R Kale and Mrs Minal Kale moved to Ahmednagar on behest of the local administrators to embark on a major infrastructure development project. After some years, and having completed many projects of repute, the dismal condition of local farmers made them think of an alternative for them. They made welfare of the farmers in the arid land of Ahmednagar their goal and worked towards creating livelihood for them. This was the beginning of goat farming and formation of AGF, which over the years has helped many local farmers find an occupation and a regular source of income.

The AGF Farm to Plate Journey

  • Quality livestock are bred on our member farms, with advice, feed & veterinary services provided by AGF . Detailed records of each animal are also kept.

  • Only healthy animals are carefully selected by AGF veterinary doctors and further processed at AGF plant.

  • The AGF Plant is a well designed, state of the art modern slaughterhouse with all the machinery imported from Spain. It has a capacity to slaughter 200 sheep/goat per hour, built to EU norms, adheres to strict food safety standards and operates to ensure the pollution free environment around it .

  • Quality meat is chilled then frozen or made into delicious ready to eat items at our kitchen facility, vacuum packed, blast frozen and despatched to a store near you - ensuring taste, freshness & hygiene.

SUSTAINABLE EFFORTS

Taking long term value creation into consideration, with an eye on the ecological, social and economic environment, AGF has relentlessly shaped an infrastructure which has an inclusive approach. Having come from an architectural background, one of the key focus areas of the promoters from the time of setting up the plant has been to ensure that there is no damage to nature and surroundings. A beautiful green environment has been created, not just around the plant, but also within the premise, ensuring effective waste management by putting up impactful eco-friendly measures such as an Effluent Treatment Plant for recycling water to use in the gardens, a Rending Plant to process animal by-products into MBM (meat and bone meal) for poultry feed and a Biomethane Plant that processes organic waste into electricity, cooking gas and organic manure. This ensures that all waste generated in the plant is consumed within and it has zero impact on the environment.

SOCIAL INITIATIVES

The promoters have taken upon themselves to work towards the welfare of the downtrodden and landless labours and dry-land farms by generating employment opportunities for the rural youth in the form of goat farming.
Besides keeping an open door policy for all interested farmers, the organization on regular basis undertakes activities which are driven towards knowledge sharing and increasing awareness about the benefits of goat and sheep rearing. The social, financial and geological benefits are explained in details and necessary support is offered to ensure sustainability of society at large.
